Our Personnel

Dave Blaney B.Sc, M.Sc., EurGeol, P.Geo
Company Director / Senior Geologist
Dave graduated with a B.Sc. in Geology from Queens University Belfast in 1987. He obtained professional accreditation from the Institute of Geologists of Ireland in 1999 and a M.Sc. in Geotechnical Engineering, Design and Management from Nottingham Trent University in 2010.
Dave joined Rio Tinto in 1987 as a junior exploration geologist eventually assuming the role of Country Manager in 1995. He joined Noranda Exploration Ireland in 1996 as Senior Geologist, with responsibility for the implementation of their Irish carbonate hosted Zn / Pb programme, discovering the Pallasgreen Deposit in 2002.
In partnership with Graham Reid, Dave founded BRG Ltd. in 2003 working on a wide range of projects in the exploration and mining, extraction, engineering and environmental industries. He was intimately involved in developing Pallasgreen from a minor exploration project to its current status as the second biggest Zn-Pb deposit in Ireland (in terms of contained metal) and he continues to be responsible for the management and implementation of the technical exploration programme at Pallasgreen project on behalf of the owner Glencore Zinc Ireland Ltd.

Shane Lavery B.Sc (Hons), M.Sc, EurGeol, P.Geo
Company Director / Senior Geologist
Shane has worked in the mineral exploration industry in Ireland and abroad for thirteen years. Since graduating from the National University of Ireland, Galway in 2011 with a BSc (Hons) in Earth and Ocean Sciences, Shane has been involved at all levels in projects in Ireland, Africa and the UK. In 2018 he completed an M.Sc by research in Trinity College, Dublin on alteration and mineralisation at the Mace Mo-Cu porphyry in Connemara, and joined the BRG team in January 2019. He manages projects from grassroots and planning up to resource delineation and reporting for base metals, precious metals and industrial materials. Shane became a director of BRG in early 2023.

Graham Reid B.A., EurGeol, P.Geo
Company Director / Senior Geophysicist
Graham graduated from Trinity College, Dublin with a BA (Hons) in Geology in 1979. He was accepted into the Institute of Geologists of Ireland as a professional member in 2003, and is currently serving as a committee member of the organisation.
After graduation Graham worked in the offshore oil exploration sector in areas including the North Sea and Canada. A move to mineral exploration geophysics in 1981 proved to be the catalyst for the rest of his career in which he has specialised in the design, implementation and interpretation of geophysical surveys – responsible for the implementation of cutting edge spatial and interpretative software as a GIS manager for a major mining company.
Graham founded BRG Ltd with Dave Blaney in 2003. The company has been involved in projects from Mineral Exploration to Geotechnical and Geophysical.

Mimi Pierson B.A., M.Sc., MIEnvSc
Environmental Scientist
Mimi joined BRG in early 2012 having gained three years of practical environmental and geophysical experience working as both a volunteer and employee in research institutions and countries worldwide. She holds a B.A. (Hons) in Physics and Geophysics from Denison University, Ohio and a M.Sc. in Environmental Science from University College Dublin, Ireland. She has worked closely with the site investigation and exploration industries since then, and has expansive experience in on-site environmental management of all geological and geophysical activities. Mimi has a technical understanding of the challenges posed by geological projects as they relate to environmental conservation and mitigation, and is responsible for conducting field surveys and compiling environmental assessments to inform the Appropriate Assessment process for all activities within sensitive ecological areas. In environmental management and project supervision, Mimi is responsible for implementing and executing monitoring plans for water discharge, noise levels, air emissions, and waste management, ensuring client compliance with all environmental protocols and local, national and EU regulations, and reporting on ongoing environmental performance.
